Zero Tolerance to Head Hits in Youth Ice Hockey: Mission Statement

Mission Statement: Zero Tolerance

Our goal is to reduce injuries in youth ice hockey by continually challenging “hockey culture”, by improving safety standards and by promoting safe and respectful competitive play at all ice hockey events.

We believe the number of concussions and injuries to our children can be decreased by reducing the number contacts made to a player’s head, neck and back. As parents, we have Zero Tolerance for these contacts. Hockey is a physical sport. It is not a reckless sport. We believe stronger penalties, improved training for both players and coaches and the continued promotion of safe and respectful play will decrease injuries to the players on the ice, our children.

We believe parents are responsible for bringing a voice into youth ice hockey as a tool to help clubs and leagues understand what is needed to best protect our children from concussions and injuries. We are parents, not spectators.

Zero Tolerance is a website for parents to use and become involved in helping the physical game of youth ice hockey, be played at the safest level possible. We understand we can’t prevent injuries. We believe we can reduce injuries. Our children are worth our efforts.
