Ten Things or More About Zero Tolerance Youth Ice Hockey

I have been asked what exactly is zero tolerance youth ice hockey. In short, it is about who we are, what we will achieve and it's what we won't tolerate as parents in our children's youth ice hockey games. Here are ten things (or more) to help describe what it is. Zero tolerance is enforcing and removing what is not acceptable in youth ice hockey.

1.   Zero Tolerance is an attitude of the parents. We are parents first and spectators second.
2.   Zero Tolerance recognizes we can't prevent injury but we can reduce injuries.
3.   Zero Tolerance focuses on challenging youth ice hockeys's current safety standards and rules.
4.   Zero Tolerance believes we don't need youth ice hockey leagues and clubs... they need us.
5.   Zero Tolerance believes the parents need a voice and a unified voice is the strongest voice.
6.   Zero Tolerance is understanding youth ice hockey is a physical sport but not a reckless sport.
7.   Zero Tolerance will reduce the number of concussions and head injuries to our children.
8.   Zero Tolerance will support alternative leagues, clubs and tournaments for our children.
9.   Zero Tolerance starts with not tolerating head, neck or back hits in youth ice hockey games.
10. Zero Tolerance believes in using today's information to make youth ice hockey a safer game.

11. Zero Tolerance will remove barriers to safety and bring youth ice hockey to more children.
12. Zero Tolerance will become the new culture of youth ice hockey in the United States.
13. Zero Tolerance will forge partnerhips with innovative leagues and clubs to expand youth ice hockey.
14. Zero Tolerance is the belief  that parents are responsible for best protecting our children.
15. Zero Tolerance believes 95% of all players and coaches play with respect and they should be the focus.
16. Zero Tolerance believes working with the current clubs and leagues, is the fastest way to effect change.
17. Zero Tolerance believes players, coaches and volunteers deserve to be trained to the highest standard.

The Zero Tolerance Youth Ice Hockey website will launch Decemeber 2010.
